Introduction to Shahi Tukray:

A traditional and delicious Mughlai dessert, Shahi Tukray lends a royal touch to any special occasion. Originating from the era of the Mughals, this delicious sweet dish is still a favorite in Pakistani and Indian households today.

  1. Slice the bread into squares or triangles after trimming the edges.
  2. Slices of bread should be fried in hot ghee till golden brown. To absorb extra oil, remove and lay on a paper towel.
  3. Bring the milk to a boil in another pot. As it starts to thicken, add the kewra essence, sugar, and cardamom powder.
  4. Let the milk reduce to half its original quantity, then turn off the heat.
  5. Arrange the fried bread slices in a serving dish and pour the thickened milk (rabri) over them.
  6. Garnish with chopped dry fruits and refrigerate for 1–2 hours before serving.
  7. Serve chilled and enjoy this royal treat that will surely win hearts!
