Homemade Frozen Paratha Recipe (Plain or Stuffed)
Frozen paratha is a quick and convenient version of the traditional Indian flatbread, perfect for busy days. Easy to store and prepare, it delivers the same flaky, flavorful experience as freshly made parathas. This recipe helps you cook frozen parathas to perfection in just minutes, with minimal effort.

Ingredients (For 10 parathas)
For the Dough:
- 3 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp oil or ghee
- Water (as needed for kneading)
For Rolling:
- Extra dry flour for dusting
- Ghee or oil for layering (optional for layered/plain parathas)
Cooking Instructions of Frozen Paratha
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the wheat flour and salt.
- Knead the dough until it is soft and smooth after adding water gradually.
- Add the oil & knead again for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Cover & rest for 20 to 30 minutes.
Step 2: Roll the Parathas
For Plain Paratha:
- Divide dough into equal-sized balls.
- Roll out each ball into a round paratha (about 6–7 inches).
- Brush lightly with oil, fold to form layers, and then roll again if desired.
For Stuffed Paratha:
- Roll the dough ball halfway, and add 2–3 tbsp of stuffing (e.g., mashed spiced potato, paneer, or cooked chicken).
- Seal edges and roll gently into a round paratha.
Step 3: Partially Cook the Parathas
This helps prevent them from sticking when frozen.
- Preheat a nonstick skillet or tawa to a moderate temperature.
- Put a single paratha on the hot tawa and cook it for only 15 to 20 seconds on each side, making sure it doesn’t brown.
- Remove and cool completely.
Step 4: Freeze the Parathas
- Once cooled, place parchment or butter paper between each paratha to prevent sticking.
- Stack them and store them in a Ziplock or airtight freezer-safe bag.
- Label and freeze for up to 1 month (for best quality).
Step 5: Cooking Frozen Parathas
- Heat a pan or tawa on medium heat.
- Take the paratha straight from the freezer; no need to thaw.
- Cook both sides with ghee or oil until golden brown and fully cooked (2–3 minutes per side).
- Serve hot with yogurt, pickle, or curry.
✅ Tips for Best Results:
- Don’t overcook before freezing, or they become dry.
- To prevent parathas from becoming soggy, keep the stuffing dry.
- Use parchment between parathas for easy separation
